Every user we watched (11) entered taxonomy terms in the following order:
Beginner
Intermediate
Advanced

However, by default, the terms are listed alphabetically. Many users were surprised by this.

Solution:
They should default to the order users entered them.

Example 'tags' vocabulary can be misleading to users

The usage of a default tags vocabulary can be misleading to users. Having one example vocabulary can give users the option that the module is limited to only that.

Solution:
Have both a tags and categories vocabulary as sample content. This would help users understand that taxonomy is capable of categorizing things in many different ways.

Term bulk update

criticality:
Minor
Drupal7:

This happened to:

Participant created nodes before creating a term. Wanted to be able to bulk update term/node associations from admin/content/node.

Implications:

May have been primarily down to task order, but a nice feature request anyway.

Terms listed alphabetically, not in creation order

criticality:
Critical
Drupal7:
Open

When entering terms from admin/content/taxonomy, they're saved in alphabetical order (i.e. no weights) rather than the order they were entered.

So when inputting:
One
Two
Three

You get

One
Three
Two

shown in the term listing or node/add drop down.

Implications:

Taxonomy sorts by name and weight.

Solution:
Ensure the last entered term has the highest weight in the vocabulary when submitting terms. Users can still set terms back to alphabetical if they want to.
